Sycamore is a short-term educational environment which provides education for children who have been permanently excluded from school due to poor behaviour.
Our curriculum is designed to re-engage and motivate disaffected young people and to ensure that any gaps in their learning are addressed. Our core curriculum focuses on reading, writing and maths, in order to ensure that pupils are well-placed to access the curriculum in their next school. Our wider curriculum covers a range of other subjects including PSHE, science, humanities, sport and art. Throughout our curriculum we focus on developing personal and social skills, emotional awareness and independent thinking skills.
We use Letters and Sounds Phonics scheme across Key Stages 1, 2 and 3. This is taught daily in KS1 & 2 and is used on an intervention level for KS3 when and where needed as part of our intervention and reading programmes.
