Measles in the West Midlands
A message from the Vaccination Team
There has been an outbreak of Measles in the West Midlands.
Vaccination UK have been instructed by NHSE to administer the MMR vaccination to all school aged children who are outstanding one or both doses. The MMR would have first been given at the age of 1 years-old, and the second dose at 3 years and 4 months.
If your child is outstanding one or both doses of the MMR, please contact Vaccination UK on 01384 431712 to make an appointment. This will be at an alternative venue and NOT at the school.
We are able to administer the MMR to any adult who requires either dose, please check the NHS app, to see if you are eligible, prior to calling.
Please note: Unfortunately, there are no clinics in Dudley at the moment.

NHS Update - Flu Clinic
Flu Clinics have been extended into January 2024, with an opportunity for young people to be vaccinated at a range of clinics.

NHS Update - Measles
We have been asked to share the following message with our school families from the NHS:
Measles cases are on the rise locally, with confirmed cases in Birmingham. The NHS is calling on you to check your child's MMR vaccination status.
Measles can lead to serious complications, but two doses of the MMR vaccine provide lifelong protection.
Protect your children's health, contact your GP to catch up on any missed vaccinations.

Upcoming school closures - reminder for parents
Sycamore Short Stay School would like to remind parents that we will be closed on Monday 4th December and Friday 22nd December to pupils for INSET days, as published on the school term dates letter sent to parents. Thank you for your ongoing support.

KS3 Visits to Arthog Outreach
Over the Autumn Term, pupils have been visited Arthog Outreach in Telford. They have taken part in a range of activities including Rock Climbing, Orienteering, Canoeing, Crate Stacking and Deer Stalking.
The pupils have been a real credit to Sycamore, as well as using the opportunity to develop their communication and team work skills.
